Top hydration tips for a brighter summer
The dark days are over! That’s right, it’s officially British summer time later this month. Our Sugar Scientist has informed us that, whilst we should enjoy the longer, hotter days, it’s much easier to become dehydrated. Therefore, it is essential that you stay topped up on the clear stuff so that you stay happy and can enjoy the sunshine! Here are a few top tips on how to stop dehydration in its tracks:
- Dry mouth – this is one of the first signs of dehydration. Make sure that you are topping up on water regularly to avoid this unpleasant side effect.
- Aching muscles – if your muscles begin to ache or feel tired, try drinking some zero-sugar water. Lean muscle tissue contains more than 75% water so when you are dehydrated, your body will feel it. Make sure that you listen to what your body is telling you – it’s usually right! Get that bottle of Perfectly Clear out and take a big swig to ease those pains.
- Pinch yourself – no, really! For most people, your skin elasticity is a simple way of testing whether you may be dehydrated. Pinch your skin for a few seconds and if, when you release your skin, it takes a while to return to its normal position, it could be a sign that you are dehydrated.
